SABCS 2022 | Addressing factors contributing to racial and ethnic breast cancer disparities

Yara Abdou, MD, UNC School of Medicine, Chapel Hill, NC, talks on addressing factors contributing to racial and ethnic breast cancer disparities, focusing on greater representation of racial and ethnic minorities in clinical trials and research studies to help understand the underlying causes behind cancer disparities and ultimately improve outcomes for minority woman with breast cancer. This might include considering eligibility criteria for enrolment on studies to avoid discriminating against certain populations, increasing cultural awareness amongst healthcare professionals and involving patient advocates in the design of clinical trials. This interview took place at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) 2022 in San Antonio, TX.
