ELCC 2022 | Network biology and disease modeling

Vera Pancaldi, PhD, Institut Universitaire du Cancer de Toulouse – Oncopole, Toulouse, France, talks on network biology and disease modelling. Dr Pancaldi discusses a study taking a network medicine approach investigated comorbidities of different diseases, interpreting molecular similarities between patients as a determinant of disease comorbidities. Additionally, software has been developed that allows microscopic image of cells to be translated into a network, whereby each cell is a node in the network representing their location in space and their interactions with other cells. Once phenotypes are associated with the cells, their spatial distribution can be represented win regards to the tumor microenvironment (TME), aiding in understanding the interactions between these cells. This interview took place during the virtual European Lung Cancer Congress 2022.
