SABCS 2024 | Hormone receptor profiles in Syrian patients with breast cancer

Ayla Kouli, Damascus University, Damascus, Syria, discusses the hormone receptor expression patterns in Syrian patients with breast cancer. Findings reveal that more than half of cases were HER2+ or triple-negative, suggesting poorer prognoses, and the majority were hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/HER2-. The study highlights the impact of Syria’s protracted war on healthcare infrastructure and cancer registry practices, emphasizing the need for improved data collection and targeted interventions to address breast cancer outcomes in this population. This interview took place at the 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
