APCCC 2024 | Overcoming challenges in expanding radiotherapy use in Africa

Omolara Fatiregun, MBBS, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria, discusses the challenges and strategies for expanding radiotherapy use in Africa. Key challenges include the lack of political will, infrastructure, and funding. Nigeria’s approach includes the establishment of the National Cancer Control Program (NCCP), stakeholder engagement, and public-private partnerships, leading to significant improvements such as increased radiotherapy centers and better access to cancer treatment. This interview took place at the 2024 Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference (APCCC) in Lugano, Switzerland.
