ELCC 2025 | Updates in the 9th TNM classification of pleural mesothelioma

Isabelle Schmitt-Opitz, MD, University Hospital Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland, gives an overview of changes in the TNM9 classification for mesothelioma. The primary driver of the changes in the 9th edition is the T factor, which reflects the thickness of the mesothelioma in the chest. The node (N) and metastasis (M) categories will remain unchanged from the previous edition, while the 10th edition will introduce significant changes to all three categories. This interview took place at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2025 in Paris, France.
