WCLC 2026 | CTCs in CSF could predict response and prognosis in leptomeningeal disease

Mark Jeng, MD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, describes findings from a study examining circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) as a prognostic and predictive biomarker in leptomeningeal disease. A higher initial CTC burden predicted poorer survival and when tracking CTC levels over time, patients who had a decrease in CTCs after treatment with proton craniospinal irradiation experienced a longer central nervous system progression-free survival. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
