BOPA 2023 | Training new people for cancer drug approval in the UK

Phil Jones, Pharmacy Workforce Development South, Bristol, UK, comments on the current state of product approval in the UK. Depending on the unit, the process of product approval varies and whilst pharmacists have typically conducted these checks, pharmacist technicians are now increasingly carrying out this role. Science manufacturing technicians (SMTs) have additionally been involved but accreditation from the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is required.
