ICCN 2022 | ISNCC position statements on nursing leadership and children’s palliative care

Julia Downing, MMedSci, BN(Hons), DipCN, PhD, International Children’s Palliative Care Network, UK & Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, discusses the development of two position statements by the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC). There are opportunities for nurses to have leadership roles in education, clinical practice, research, and policy, but more work needs to be done to support nurses with going after these roles. Dr Downing discusses the development of the ISNCC’s position statement on nursing leadership, as well as the position statement on children’s palliative care which is being developed by the International Children’s Palliative Care Network. The latter statement is hoped to be developed in collaboration with many other organisations around the world. This interview took place at the virtual 2022 International Conference on Cancer Nursing (ICCN).
