EAU 2026 | G-DISCO: synchronous gemcitabine and docetaxel as an intravesical therapy for high-risk NMIBC

Dickon Hayne, MBBS, MD, FRCS, FRACS, UWA Medical School, Perth, Australia, discusses the G-DISCO trial, a first-in-human phase one study that investigated the use of synchronous gemcitabine and docetaxel as an intravesical therapy for high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), which showed promising results with over 60% three-month disease-free survival and 81% high-grade recurrence-free survival. Dr Hayne highlights that this approach may offer a significant change in treatment, potentially being more efficacious, cost-saving, and safer than administering the drugs sequentially. This interview took place at the 41st Annual EAU Congress in London, UK.
