ASCO GI 2023 | Should germline genetic testing be universal in colorectal cancer?

Heather Hampel, MS, City of Hope, Duarte, CA, discusses the benefits of performing germline genetic testing on all patients with colorectal cancer. Pathogenic germline variants in colorectal cancer genes are not uncommon, and can impact treatment strategies for patients, where early detection may prevent future cancers from recurring. Family members may also benefit if patients are tested for germline mutations. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2023 Gastrointestinal Cancers (GI) Symposium in San Francisco, CA.
