EAU 2025 | The case for increased screening in prostate cancer

Peter Albers, German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Heidelberg & Heinrich-Heine-University, Düsseldorf, Germany, describes the value of screening for prostate cancer, highlighting that an organized screening program can improve cancer-specific mortality and morbidity, and reduce the risk of metastatic disease requiring costly systemic treatment. Despite low numbers, a screening program can have a significant impact on the increasing number of men worldwide who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the next 20 years. This interview took place at the 2025 European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress in Madrid, Spain.
