BTOG 2023 | Genomic testing in lung cancer and smoking signatures

Colin Lindsay, BSc, MBChB, MRCP, PhD, Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester, UK, discusses genomic testing in lung cancer. Although genetic testing has greatly advanced over the past 25 years, questions remain over how the large amount of data associated with the genome in the field of oncology can be assimilated for the benefit of patients. Dr Lindsay provides an overview of an investigation into the impact of smoking on the genome generating various smoking-related genomic signatures and how this data can direct treatment options. This interview took place at the British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) Annual Conference 2023 in Belfast, UK.
