UKONS 2023 | Special considerations in geriatric oncology

Cassandra Ng, Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, UK, provides an overview of unmet needs in geriatric oncology. Elderly patients tend to be heterogenous in terms of their previous health and fitness and treatment routines must reflect this. Frailty screening tools can help identify patients who may need additional care and multidisciplinary teams are essential for better outcomes. Frailty is also a spectrum, and prehabilitation can benefit patients. This interview took place at the UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS) Annual Conference 2023 in Newport, UK.
