Shereen El Nabhani-Gebara, PharmD, Kingston University, London, UK, discusses the findings of the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) subcommittee. A survey was sent out to members and 50% of participants indicated that they had experienced some form of discrimination within the workplace. In response, BOPA is designing cultural competence and humility training to support members. The committee also wanted to understand whether inclusive care is provided to patients, and therefore they surveyed people of ethnic minority groups to understand their experience during cancer treatment. Dr El Nabhani-Gebara discusses the results of these surveys and the implications for how health care professionals are trained. This interview took place at the 26th Annual BOPA Symposium in Newport, UK.
