EAU 2025 | Outcomes of radical prostatectomy following HIFU failure

Ludovica Cella, MD, Humanitas University, Milan, Italy, presents results from a single-center study evaluating the feasibility, safety, and outcomes of radical prostatectomy in in patients with localised prostate cancer who experienced failure after high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment. Despite expected challenges such as tissue adhesions, the procedure was safely performed with no significant intraoperative complications. Post-operative recovery showed favorable functional and oncological outcomes, reinforcing the viability of surgery as a salvage option after HIFU. This interview took place at the 2025 European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress in Madrid, Spain.
