ICCN 2022 | Telemedicine and Patient Reported Outcomes

Linda Watson, RN, PhD, Alberta Health Services, Calgary, Canada, talks on the rise of telemedicine and how this has changed the use of Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) in the clinical setting. Previously, PROs were used in-person in clinical settings but with the rise of telemedicine, new methods have had to be developed to enable patients to remotely communicate PROs to healthcare professionals. One such method has been to give patients paper forms to take home and fill in, which can then be used as a reference sheet when patients have telehealth calls with their care providers. Additionally, online portals are being developed which will enable patients to access and fill in digital forms which can then be sent to the relevant healthcare professionals. This interview took place at the virtual 2022 International Conference on Cancer Nursing (ICCN).
