Alok Khorana, MD, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH, outlines the findings of a report on hospitalized cancer patients with COVID-19 from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) COVID-19 in Cancer Patients Study (NCCAPS). Preliminary analysis of NCCAPS data suggests that inpatient hospitalization is common among patients with cancer during COVID-19; these patients also experience higher mortality. Hematologic malignancies and lung cancer are the most common underlying diagnoses in patients requiring hospitalization.
