ASTRO 2022 | Disparities in assessment of sexual function of men and women undergoing radiotherapy for GU cancers

Jamie Takayesu, MD, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, talks on a retrospective review at single institution investigating physician assessment of sexual function for patients undergoing brachytherapy for cervical or prostate cancer. The study looked at how many patients were being asked at time of consult about their sexual function. For men, it was about 90%, while for women, it was only 13%. This prompted a review of nationwide data using the clinical trials registry which found a smaller but still striking disparity. This interview took place at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) 2022 Congress in San Antonio, Tx.
