EAU 2024 | EU network of comprehensive cancer centers: enhancing cancer care integration across Europe

Tit Albreht, MD, PhD, National Institute of Public Health in Ljubljana, Slovenia, discusses the preparation of a new joint action project called the EU Network of comprehensive cancer centers. This initiative aims to establish a network linking existing and developing comprehensive cancer centers across the EU. The project will include pilot sites in various EU member states, candidate countries like Moldova and Ukraine, and associated countries such as Iceland and Norway. The network may consist of self-standing centers, parts of university hospitals, or integrated networks of cancer centers. Additionally, the initiative will develop comprehensive cancer care networks that link these centers with other cancer-treating hospitals, creating a consortium to integrate all components of cancer care. This interview took place at the EAU 2024 congress in Paris, France.
