ESMO 2022 | Strategies to improve time to diagnosis in patients with cancer

Matthew Gitlin, PharmD, BluePath Solutions, Los Angeles, CA, provides an explanation why the time to diagnose various forms of cancer vary as well as potential approaches to reduce differences in the time to diagnosis. Initial symptoms of cancer may be non-specific such as loss of appetite and unexplained weight loss, which may not arouse suspicion in primary care providers. Novel innovations such as biomarker and genomic tests will hopefully lead to more timely diagnoses and even predict relapse in patients. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2022 Congress in Paris, France.
