Christopher Manley, MD, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA, describes a range of techniques and procedures performed to improve the quality of life (QOL) of patients with lung cancer. The treatment of pleural disease through the placement of tunnelled catheters allows for pleural fluid to be drained at home and means patients do not need to return to hospital for repeat procedures, which can have a positive impact on QOL. Dr Manley also explains that stenting and debulking of tumors from the airways can reduce breathlessness in patients and allows them to avoid the hospital. This interview took place at the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) 2021.
