ASCO 2026 | Background and rationale for the PROTEUS trial in HR LPC/LAPC

Mary-Ellen Taplin, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses the challenges of localized high-risk prostate cancer and the rationale for the PROTEUS trial (NCT03767244). The PROTEUS trial evaluated adjuvant and neoadjuvant perioperative apalutamide plus androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) versus placebo plus ADT in patients with high-risk localized or locally advanced prostate cancer (HR LPC/LAPC) undergoing radical prostatectomy.
