UKONS 2016 | Overall theme of the UKONS 2016 conference

Catherine Oakley, PhD, UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS) President 2014–2016 Guy’s and from St Thomas’ Hospital, London, UK, provides an overview of the overall theme of UKONS 2016, which has been on the changing face of cancer care. This year has focused on learning about innovations in cancer treatments and patient supportive care needs. Dr Oakley mentions a key presentation which focused on ‘cancer task force strategies’. The presentation was able to highlight how patient experience is seen as equally important as issues around treatment and survivorship. It also highlighted one of the main issues for nurses, which is that they do not feel like they have enough time to talk to patients. Recorded at the 2016 Annual Conference of the UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS), held in Brighton, UK.
