Mitch Dowsett, PhD, FMedSci, Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, discusses the development of an innovative algorithm to help identify patients with breast cancer who should be prioritized for surgery earlier or could be deferred to treatment with neoadjuvant endocrine therapy, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study focused on post-menopausal patients with primary ER+ HER2- breast cancer and utilized previously unpublished data from clinical trials involving thousands of patients. Prof. Dowsett was the lead author on the publication which was published in NPJ Breast Cancer. This interview was recorded via an online conference call with The Video Journal of Oncology (VJOncology).
