Gabriele Zoppoli, MD, PhD, University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy, discusses findings from the AURORA program (NCT02102165) on age-associated molecular features in advanced breast cancer (aBC). Significant variations in gene mutations and pathway activations by age were found, where older patients showed enrichment in actionable mutations within PI3K, estrogen receptor, and ephrin receptor pathways. On the other hand, younger patients presented with hedgehog and G2M checkpoint signatures. These insights highlight age-specific mutational landscapes that could inform tailored therapeutic strategies for aBC. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
