Jens Peter Klussmann, MD, University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany, discusses the role of human papilloma virus (HPV) cell free DNA (cfDNA) in managing patients with HPV-positive head and neck cancer. By utilizing the viral DNA of HPV found in humans, clinicians can perform assays to monitor disease progression before and after treatment, detect relapse, and perform tumor staging. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2023 Congress in Madrid, Spain.
