GI Malignancies Debate 2022 | The role of HIPEC in peritoneal mesothelioma, GI and ovarian cancers

Deepa Magge, MD, FACS, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Nashville, TN, provides an overview of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), a procedure designed to treat a range of cancers. Patients initially undergo surgery and heated chemotherapy drugs are directly applied to remove any remaining tumors. HIPEC is typically administered in patients with peritoneal mesothelioma, appendix, colorectal, and ovarian cancer. This interview took place virtually at the 2022 Great Debates & Updates in Gastrointestinal Malignancies Congress.
