Jonas Subelack, University of St.Gallen, St Gallen, Switzerland, discusses the capability of an artificial intelligence (AI) system to detect breast cancer signs in interval breast cancer screening mammograms, including cases where radiologists did not recognize abnormalities. The study assessed AI-generated case scores alongside radiologist retrospective evaluations, revealing that AI identified potential cancer indicators in some missed cases. Findings highlight the complementary role of AI in improving mammography screening accuracy and reducing undetected cancers, supporting its integration into clinical workflows. This interview took place at the 2025 St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Consensus Meeting in Vienna, Austria.
