AACR 2022 | Advantages and disadvantages of next-generation sequencing techniques for tumor research

Sofia Mastoraki, PhD, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX discusses the advantages and disadvantages of next-generation sequencing (NGS). For example, single cell RNA sequencing can be utilised to study tumor heterogeneity, but it is expensive and is not a high-throughput method. NGS technologies have also characterised circulating biomarkers, which is a fast, easy, non-invasive method to monitor patient response. This interview took place at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2022 in New Orleans, LA.
