SABCS 2021 | Managing breast cancer in young patients

Patricia Ganz, MD, UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, Los Angeles, CA, discusses how to manage breast cancer in younger patients, and the challenges that these patients face. Roughly 20% of breast cancer patients are under 50 years old, and these women are often having children and focusing on their professional careers, which all comes to a halt when they are diagnosed with breast cancer. Younger women also have a higher risk of depression and anxiety, which is exacerbated when they have to undergo difficult treatments and preventative surgeries. This interview took place at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium 2021 in San Antonio.
