ASCO 2025 | POLCAGB: chemoradiotherapy in locally advanced gallbladder cancer

Reena Engineer, MD, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, India, discusses interim results from the Phase III POLCAGB trial (NCT02867865), which compared neoadjuvant chemotherapy to chemoradiotherapy in patients with locally advanced gallbladder cancer. Chemoradiotherapy improved overall survival and R0 resection rates compared to chemotherapy alone. Event-free survival was also longer with chemoradiotherapy. Postoperative complication rates were comparable between arms. This interview took place during the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
