ESMO GI 2024 | Artificial intelligence for detecting hepatocellular carcinoma
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is often diagnosed late, limiting treatment options to palliative care due to disease progression. Lorenza Rimassa, MD, IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, Milan, Italy, highlights findings from a retrospective study, which demonstrated that an artificial intelligence (AI) signature was able to anticipate the diagnosis of HCC earlier. However, these findings need confirmation in larger, diverse, and prospective patient cohorts. This interview took place at 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer Annual Congress in Munich, Germany.
