Risk-factors associated with cancer such as tobacco, alcohol and recreational drug consumption tend to be higher within the LGBT+ community, however, patient feedback has indicated the relationship between LGBTQ+ patients and healthcare professionals is unsatisfactory. This issue is particularly relevant for patients with pelvic sarcomas where meticulous discussion over the consequences of treatment, including in relation to pelvic organs for reproduction and sexual activity due to the impact on ovarian function and the uterus, is essential for providing advice to the patient to aid in decision making.
