ESGO 2021 | Significance of surgical assessment on outcomes after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer

Sergi Fernandez-Gonzalez, MD, MSc, Bellvitge University Hospital, Barcelona, Spain, discusses the results of a multicenter analysis evaluating the oncological outcomes of laparoscopic radical hysterectomy versus radical abdominal hysterectomy in patients with early-stage cervical cancer. In this retrospective multicenter study, laparoscopy was associated with worse disease-free survival, compared to laparotomy. This interview took place at the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) 2021 congress in Prague.
