Kelly-Anne Phillips, MBBS (Hons), MD, FRACP, FAHMS, Peter MacCallum Cancer Center, Melbourne, Australia, highlights data from a study reviewing patients carrying the BRAC1 or BRAC2 pathogenic variant, and their hormone contraceptive use. The study showed that hormone contraceptive use is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer in women positive for BRAC1, and risk increases with cumulative use. This interview took place at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
