ESTRO 2026 | Same-day single-fraction SABR for lung cancer maintains treatment quality and improves patient ease

Neil Wallace, MD, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia, describes the benefits of same-day single-fraction stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) in lung cancer patients, emphasizing the patient-centered nature of the treatment. Staff surveys about the treatment process found that the quality of the treatment was maintained as the convenience was improved. Dr Wallace highlights the cohorts that would benefit are patients who need to travel for treatment and frail patients, for whom traveling to hospital is difficult. This interview took place at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology 2026 Congress in Stockholm, Sweden.
