BOPA 2020 | The evolving field of genomics in oncology

Emma Howard, PhD, Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool, UK, discusses current genomic tests in clinical practice for treatment and prongosis of patients with cancer. Dr Howard discusses the evolving field of genomics and how datasets from the 100,000 Genome Project has led to the improvement of genetically informed treatment as well as the onset of whole-genome sequencing. Also discussed is DPYD genotyping and how it can be used to predict treatment response to capecitabine and 5-FU and how this has been rolled out in the North-West of England.
