GU Cancers 2024 | Variability in genomic testing among prostate cancer care providers

Dalia Kaakour, MD, MS, MPH, University of California, Irvine, CA, presents findings from a survey assessing real-world genomic testing patterns in prostate cancer. Responses from 47 providers indicated that academic oncologists are more likely to order genomic testing earlier compared to their community counterparts. Additionally, urologists were generally less inclined to order genomic testing than oncologists. These findings underscore the need for consistent genomic testing in prostate cancer to optimize the use of targeted therapies. This interview took place at the ASCO GU Cancers Symposium 2024 in San Francisco, CA.
