ESMO 2020 | Genomic evolution of metastatic tumours under therapeutic pressure

Joris Van De Haar, MD, MSc, Netherlands Cancer Institute, Amsterdam, The Netherlands talks about data coming from a study which utilized whole genome seuqencing (WGS) in samples from patients with metastatic cancer prior to systemic therapy and after treatment. Data available was used to study the association between the evolution of somatic genomic profiles, and clinical characteristics. The data from this study showed that one-time WGS analyses used during the disease course of a patient with metastatic disease is sufficient for identifying standard-of-care genomic biomarkers.
