ISOPP 2021 | Cardio-oncology pharmacy practice in Canada

Maria Anwar, MBA, BScPharm, ACPR, Alberta Health Services, Calgary, Canada, describes a study that aimed to evaluate and enhance the understanding of clinical pharmacy practice in cardio-oncology in Canada. Oncology pharmacists working in a range of clinical settings across Canada were interviewed in order to determine their current approaches to patient care and responsibilities within the care team including assessing patient cardiac risk factors, offering tailored patient education and helping to guide treatment decisions. The study also explored some of the challenges being encountered such as difficulties with integration of this emerging area into the patient care process. This interview took place during the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP) 2021 Virtual Symposium.
