AACR 2023 | Increasing diversity in clinical trials for lung cancer

Julie Barta, MD, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA, comments on the need to enhance diversity in lung cancer clinical studies. Multiple strategies such as community engagement, developing infrastructure in underserved communities, and changing the inclusion criteria are necessary to ensure fair racial and ethnic representation. In the CASCADE-LUNG (NCT05306288) study, a diverse cohort ensured that the blood-based assay that was assessed will be effective in the population that it will be used in. This interview took place at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2023 in Orlando, FL.
