BTOG 2022 | The effect of COVID-19 on lung cancer nursing

Sarah Hargreaves, PhD, University of Sheffield, Sheffield, UK, presents findings from a survey on the impact of COVID-19 on lung cancer and mesothelioma nurses. During the pandemic, specialist nurses faced challenges in terms of their wellbeing and work. The quality in care was under strain due to delayed services, reduced face-to-face interactions and a reduced workforce, as nurses were required in other areas. The mental and physical health of nurses were additionally affected, but the pandemic also led novel changes including the formation of nurse-led clinics, and increased collaborative working. This interview took place at the 20th Annual British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) Conference 2022.
