ECCO 2017 | Unmet needs in melanoma

Georgina Long, MD, PhD, from the University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia, discusses unmet needs in melanoma at the European Cancer Congress of the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO) 2017 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Currently, there are unmet needs in mucosal and acral melanoma in comparison to cutaneous melanoma. However, the CheckMate 067 (NCT01844505) investigated the combination of nivolumab and ipilimumab, the results of which will hopefully show an improvement in overall survival. There are also unmet needs in terms of brain metastases, and hopefully there will be clinical trials determining the efficacy of immunotherapies in the treatment of these.
