Mohamed E. Salem, MD, Levine Cancer Institute, Charlotte, NC, discusses the results of a retrospective analysis evaluating the impact of socioeconomic status on colorectal cancer (CRC) patient survival using the National Cancer Database. Patients with CRC living in areas of low income and low education had worse survival, highlighting how sociodemographic characteristics should be taken into consideration in the treatment and management of patients with CRC.
