Jonathan Trent, MD, PhD, University of Miami, Miami, FL, introduces a rare type of primary bone sarcoma, chondrosarcoma. This malignant bone tumor produces cartilaginous matrix and is the second most common primary bone malignancy following osteosarcoma. 90% of individuals will be diagnosed with conventional chondrosarcoma, with other subtypes being exceedingly rare and difficult to recognize. No known effective or approved therapy presently exists, and as such, most locally advanced or metastatic cases prove fatal. This interview took place at the ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers Congress 2023 in Lugano, Switzerland.
