The wearables make it super easy now to do decentralized trials. It is possible now to say to a company that provides the clinically validated wearable data that you want these signals, you want these validated measures, you want the raw data, and you want all of the regulatory boxes checked. And then the provider can send the wearable to either the trial sites or direct to participants, you know, blinded to their status, not knowing if they’re a control or a patient...

And then it collects. It’s super easy now for patients to enroll. They get a box. It has a QR code. They unlock the wearable, you know, they pull the wearable out of the box. It tells them what to do, you know, plug it in. It tells them, you know, to scan the QR code. And then as soon as they do that, they’re enrolled. They don’t have to do a lot of complicated stuff. And then on the back end, trial managers can see the patients showing up, can see if they’re wearing it or not, can see if the data passes quality checks or not. So it’s never been easier to run clinical trials. In our research at MIT, which is usually not a clinical trial, it’s usually more exploratory, I even prefer using the clinical trials wearables now because they make it so much easier to get data that is usually super high quality.
