NCRI 2016 | Cancer funding needs: basic research or self-management?

Penny Schofield, PhD of Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia discusses cancer funding needs. There is a big push for basic research to cure or at least arrest the progress of cancer, however, Dr Schofield states that more money should be allocated towards self-management and supporting patients and their families throughout the cancer trajectory. This could bring far greater gains in terms of better patient outcomes. Recorded at the 2016 National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Conference in Liverpool, UK.
