WCLC 2024 | Pitfalls in treating early stage lung cancer with perioperative therapy
Jan von der Thüsen, MD, PhD, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, Netherlands, comments on unanswered questions regarding the use of perioperative therapy for early stage lung cancer. Certain patients run the risk of being overtreated, and patient selection subsequently needs to be optimized. For some patients, de-escalation is an option and complete responses in tumors have been correlated withevent-free survival. Cell free DNA (cfDNA) analysis has additionally be proposed to monitor patient progress, but is currently not sensitive enough for clinical use. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
