WCLC Sept 2021 | The role of the interventional pulmonologist in lung cancer care
Christopher Manley, MD, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA, describes the role of the interventional pulmonologist in the care process of patients with lung cancer. Upon the initial presentation of a patient with a lung nodule, interventional pulmonologists are involved with lung cancer diagnostics through imaging and bronchoscopic biopsy, as well as lung cancer staging by looking at the lymph nodes. They are also involved with the management of treatment-related side effects such as pneumonitis and perform palliative procedures. This interview took place at the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) 2021.
