ESTRO 2026 | Follow-up to the MODERN-LUNG trial of hypofractionated radiotherapy in lung cancer

Shalini Vinod, MBBS, MD, University of New South Wales, Liverpool, Australia, discusses a follow-up Phase III randomized trial to the MODERN-LUNG trial (ACTRN12620001198910), which will evaluate the MODERN-LUNG regimen of 55GY in 20 fractions against 60-66Gy in 30-33 fractions in unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Patient input has been considered to design a combined primary endpoint of progression-free survival, treatment burden for patients, quality of life and toxicity. This interview took place at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology 2026 Congress in Stockholm, Sweden.
